If you\u2019ve ever been to Jiuzhaigou, you must have seen a scene like this \u2013 on a hillside in late fall, golden persimmons hang on the branches like little lanterns, and under the trees sit a few old men slowly peeling persimmons in their hands next to bamboo plaques filled with sun-dried, glistening persimmon cakes. This is the proudest specialty of Jiuzhaigou people: JiuZhai Dried Persimmon<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n

\u4e5d\u5be8\u67ff\u9905\u662f\u4ec0\u9ebc\uff1f<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Jiuzhai Persimmon Cake is not an ordinary dried persimmon. It is more like a piece of \u201cconcentrated fall\u201d \u2014 persimmons peeled, after 30 days of sunshine and mountain winds, become soft and sweet, a bite can taste the honey-like gelatinous feeling, but with a hint of mountain freshness. Locals often say, \u201cEating a piece of persimmon cake is the same as drinking a mouthful of Jiuzhaigou\u2019s spring water.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u4e5d\u5be8\u6e9d\u67ff\u5b50\u7522\u5340\u4f4d\u65bc\u4e5d\u5be8\u6e9d\u7e23\u6771\u5357\u90e8\uff0c\u7522\u5340\u6d77\u62d4\u70ba1160m\u20141938m\uff0c\u571f\u58e4\u4e3b\u8981\u70ba\u5c71\u5730\u68d5\u58e4\uff0cpH\u503c7.0\u20147.8\uff0c\u6709\u6a5f\u8cea\u542b\u91cf\u8f03\u9ad8\uff0c\u8cea\u5730\u758f\u9b06\uff0c\u571f\u5c64\u6df1\u539a\uff0c\u901a\u900f\u6027\u826f\u597d\uff0c\u7522\u5340\u7684\u81ea\u7136\u74b0\u5883\u689d\u4ef6\u6709\u5229\u65bc\u67ff\u5b50\u7684\u751f\u9577\u3002 <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u2013 Children are responsible for picking up fallen persimmons, and stealing a few will be clapped by the amah, \u201cSave some for your stomach, it will be sweeter when it\u2019s ready to be sun-dried!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u2013 The men cut green bamboo to make the sunscreen plaques, and even when their fingers bleed from the bamboo thorns, they don\u2019t stop.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u2013 The most lively day is the day of squeezing persimmon cakes, neighbors visit each other to compare their skills, and whoever squeezes a round persimmon cake can exchange it for two extra pounds of bacon.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u6d88\u5931\u7684\u4e5d\u5be8\u67ff\u9905\uff1a<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Nowadays, most of the young people in the village go to work in the city, and fewer than 20 families still insist on making persimmon cakes. 68-year-old Mr. Zhaxi wakes up at 5:00 a.m. every day to dry persimmons, and says, \u201cTourists take away the persimmon cakes, but someone has to leave Jiuzhaigou\u2019s autumn behind.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
