Summer Family Exploration: Nine Days of Wonder in Sichuan

In the summer, when the American land is embraced by the blazing sun, our family of four decided to cross the Pacific Ocean to Sichuan, China, in search of a different kind of coolness and surprise. This is not just a simple trip, but an in-depth exploration of culture, nature, and family love.

Itinerary Overview

Our journey begins with a long flight from Los Angeles, landing in the charming city of Chengdu. We will then drive across to Jiuzhaigou and Wenchuan and spend nine days experiencing the fall charm of Sichuan, even though it is a hot summer day for us.

Day 1: Departure and First Look at Chengdu

As the plane slowly landed, the children excitedly peered through the porthole overlooking this unfamiliar land. The sky in Chengdu is a different kind of blue than that of Los Angeles. After checking into our hotel, we couldn't wait to hit the streets and taste the authentic Sichuan snacks. Although we chose lighter food to accommodate the children's tastes, the temptation of the spicy food had quietly planted a seed in our hearts for further exploration.

Day 2-3: The Wonderful World of Jiuzhaigou

Jiuzhaigou, known as the “fairyland on earth”, was the highlight of our trip. Early in the morning, when the first rays of sunlight pierced through the clouds, we were already on our way to Jiuzhaigou. The scenery along the way slowly unfolded like a picture scroll, with mountains and mountains, blue water like a mirror, every frame was mesmerizingly beautiful.

In Jiuzhaigou, it was as if we had stepped into a fairy tale world. The grandeur of Norilang Waterfall, the serenity of the Rhinoceros Sea, the splendor of the Sea of Five Flowers …… each attraction made us linger. The children are even more excited, they run on the trestle, with the camera to record every unforgettable moment. At night, we stayed in the B&B near the scenic spot, listening to the sound of gurgling water outside the window, enjoying this rare peace and warmth.

Day 4: Close Encounter at Wolong Giant Panda Base

Leaving Jiuzhaigou, we drove to Wolong Giant Panda Base. This is a place that the children have dreamed of. They couldn't wait to see the pandas with their own eyes. Although the pandas spent most of their time leisurely eating bamboo or napping, the occasional roll and climb of a tree was enough to make the kids cheer.

Day 5: Contemplation at the Wenchuan Earthquake Site and Wonder at the Chengdu Nature Museum

On the fifth day, we traveled to the Wenchuan Earthquake Ruins. Here, every piece of rubble and every collapsed wall spoke of the heaviness of that disaster. The children walked quietly through the ruins, perhaps they could not understand the heaviness yet, but the reverence and appreciation of life had quietly taken root in their hearts.

In the afternoon, we went to Chengdu Nature Museum. Here, the vicissitudes of the earth over the past billions of years were displayed. The children were deeply attracted by the lifelike animal and plant specimens, and they curiously asked about the stories behind each exhibit, as if they had traveled through time and space and had a conversation with ancient creatures.

Day 6 to 9: In-depth Exploration in Chengdu and Homeward Bound

For the remaining days, we traveled through the streets of Chengdu, tasting more authentic food and experiencing the city's smoky atmosphere. Each of the Broad and Narrow Alley, Jinli Ancient Street, and Wuhou Temple …… left our footprints and laughter.

Finally, it was time to say goodbye. With full of memories and reluctance, we set off on our way home. This trip to Sichuan not only allowed us to enjoy the natural scenery and humanistic charms of China, but also brought us closer together as a family. We believe that this trip will become a beautiful memory in our hearts forever.

Conclusion

Sichuan, this magical land, shows us its beauty and sorrow in its unique way. For us, it is not only a trip, but also a baptism of the soul. We look forward to our next encounter and more unknown beauties.
